Well I had a moment today while cleaning that took me back to my youth and then when it was over back to reality. Some of you who are as old as me or older would be familiar with the song. At least those who listened to alternative style music in the 80's & 90's like I did. And anyone who has seen the movie Napoleon Dynamite will recognize the song too as it was featured in the movie. So what's the song you say??? Forever Young by Alphaville. I realize the album came out when I was 9 yrs old but I was introduced to it 3 or 4 years later thanks to my childhood best friend H's older sister, Dzintra who is now my SIL (married to Lane's brother). We'd spend the summers together and I actually listened to it a lot more when I was in high school - also the time where we all did A LOT of underage drinking. I had many a slow dances with boys/boyfriends to this song during the summers. So when I heard it this morning on XM through DirecTV, I couldn't help but sing along and think of those days where I was meeting boys and doing things that I'm too old to do or I can't do because I'm married. Getting old sucks!!!
Just also wanted to tell everyone that Syd is doing MUCH, MUCH, MUCH better. Medicine is a godsend. I laid down on the floor next to him this morning and well he covered my face in his slobber he was giving me so many kisses. I would not have gotten that out of him a week ago.
Bad news is that the same day we took Syd to the vet because we thought he was dying, we got an email from Lane's sister that her min-pin (miniature pinture) had died. Taylor, or Tay-Tay as we all called her drove me nuts for the first 3 years or so that she was owned by SIL & BIL. She'd just sit there and bark at you and if you came anywhere near her she'd run and start barking at you again. I was trying to figure out why they had gotten such a little sh*t of a dog. Tay-Tay had gotten out through the garage. She was so small that they didn't even see her come out the door and go into the driveway. So it wasn't until a few hours later they realized that the only dog in the house was Laila their boxer. So they went looking for Tay-Tay without luck. They then took Laila out to see if she could pick up Tay-Tay's scent and she had a few leads but then would lose them. After being up all night making posters, my SIL went out to hang them up and found her at 5 am in a grassy median outside the front entrance of their subdivision stiff. She had obviously been hit by a car and died quickly. She wrapped Tay-Tay up in towel and brought her back to the house. Laila was so excited that Tay-Tay had been found she couldn't contain herself. Laila was allowed to sniff Tay-Tay and couldn't figure out why she wasn't moving when she sniffed her. My SIL & BIL had her cremated that same day and she now sits in a pretty mahogany box on their mantle. My BIL was really attached to Tay-Tay and I was actually pretty upset that she had died too. The last time I saw Tay-Tay was at Thanksgiving and she spent a lot of time laying in my lap and keeping me warm. So she will be missed very much. We haven't told Eriks that Tay-Tay went to doggy heaven. We don't know exactly how to tell him so that he would understand. He also really loved that dog and couldn't wait to see her when we'd get to Mesquite to visit his aunt & uncle.
I just can't believe how many people I know have had their dogs die over the past 6-7 months. Two bloggy buddies, my friend out in Las Vegas lost her beloved golden retriever Drake, now my SIL's dog Tay-Tay. I'm sure my parents dog will probably die this year (although I'm not 100% sure but he is almost 16 and that is REALLY OLD for a Labrador).
OK, on to happier thoughts and trying to stay warm this weekend as we are absolutely freezing here!!! Hope everyone has a good weekend!!!

Glad Syd is perking up. That is some serious bad doggie news. I am sending a load of good mojo to the canines out there.
