So I booked our trip in April this morning. Last night I got news I didn't want to hear from Lane. We had planned on being there the 9th to the 15th since Lane turns the big 4-0 on the 12th. Anyhow, we were discussing it and he informs me that due to the ORI (Operational Readiness Inspection) going on from the 6th to the 20th no one is allowed to take any vacation time then. I was really pi$$ed off about this. I swear this crap always ends up happening to us when we plan something. But then I accepted it and we made the decision to leave on the 23rd and come back on the 29th. We will treat this as Lane's 40th birthday vacation. I am still sad that we can't be there for his birthday and he's going to turn 40 slaving away for Uncle Sam, but there are probably plenty of military members who have celebrated their 40th birthdays while working.
So we are staying at the Wilderness Lodge on Disney Property (Jess, it's your kind of place). It's actually close to the Magic Kingdom. We've never stayed here before and are looking forward to it. Now it's on to making ADR's so that we can eat at the places we want to. A character breakfast at Chef Mickey's is a must this trip. We wanted to do it in Sept of '06 but it was such a short trip it wasn't going to happen. Hopefully we won't have a hard time making reservations for meals.
I told Eriks we were going to Disney and showed him a picture of the Wilderness Lodge. He's been asking to go back for months now and I thought he'd be excited but so far hasn't reacted much. I guess if we said we were going tomorrow it would be a different story. When I showed him the picture of the WL he asked if that was in China. I told him no it was at WDW and he looked at me like I was crazy because he hadn't remembered seeing it when we were there about 18 months ago. He remembers the parks but didn't realize that there are hotels there too.
Well, I'm off to plan out eating our way through WDW. I will definitely call today to get ADR's for Chef Mickey's.

Sounds like fun. I went to WDW once. My favorite place was Wildlife Kingdom? Cool place. Great shows and rides. Everywhere else, ho-hum. Great for kids, though. I figure I will be there in a couple of years keep me posted on what little girls would like. It's been a couple years.
Oh, I'm so jealous! HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!!!
Awesome! Yea for you guys.
We are going with my whole family in June, so I'll look forward to your report before we go. :-) And like you, we have reservations for Chef Mickey's. We've never been before (WDW) and are really looking forward to it.
Happy New Year!
