Review of the Past 4 Weeks & 2 Days to Go!!!

My parents are currently on their way here. Should be arriving at my front door within the next few hours. Two days to go and starting to pack and get all our stuff together. Still have a bunch of last minute errands to get done.

Now for the review that I've been meaning to do for oh...a few weeks now. First up is a photo of Eriks Pre-K graduation. We weren't allowed to take photos during the ceremony. It was all video tapes by one of the dads who is a professional videographer. Still haven't gotten our disk but hopefully it will arrive shortly.

What a cheese!!!

At the beginning of the month Eriks and I tagged along on a work trip Lane had to take to So. Miss to do a refresher course. Unfortunately we never got to go to the beach. The 1st day was nice but we didn't get time and the next 3 1/2 days were cloudy & rainy. It was a bummer since Eriks especially was looking forward to it.

On the bright side, on one of our rainy days we took the 60 minute drive to New Orleans. Lane and I hadn't been there since 1999 or 2000 when we were living in MS. On the drive into town you could so see the devastation left from Hurricane Katrina. Empty houses that were severely damaged. You could definitely see it in Bi.loxi where Lane was doing his work stuff. Just driving down the road right in front of the beach there was empty lot upon empty lot where people had decided not to rebuild.

Anyhow...one of the big reasons we wanted to hit New Orleans was for a cafe-au-lait and beignet fix at Cafe.du.Monde. They are open 24 hrs a day. The best time is during Mardi Gras at 2:30 am after a night of drinking hurricanes. BTDT!! Oh, they were heaven. I called my mom from there and said, "So, do you want to know where I am?" She took a guess and I said, "No, I'm sitting at Cafe.du.Monde drinking coffee and eating beignets." She was jealous. The last time she was there was when we went back in '97. Eriks had his very 1st one as seein in the photo below. Then he had a second one. And no, he was not drinking coffee. He had soda.

It was a really great afternoon until the thunderstorms rolled in. The thunder was so loud that it was setting off car alarms in the parking lot. It was definitely the kind of thunder that makes you jump out of your skin. About 20 minutes out of town the rain stopped.

Last but not least...the last 2 gifts we've received. The gift below came from Doug, Lisa & Briana. Briana has the same PJ's and so does another blog friend's daughter.. We'll have to get the 3 GA babies together for a photo in their matching PJ's. And I love the washcloths. I've been using full-size ones for Eriks but some baby size ones are just what I needed. Oh and there's also a CD of Chinese Lullabies not pictured as Lane immediately swiped it to take a listen. He also uploaded it to the laptop he's taking with him so that he can play it in China for Emi.

And the gift below came from our friend Kammy whom we know through the FCC Central AR group that we belonged to while we lived there. We miss them so much because they were such a great support network. I'm so glad we got a hat. I have been looking high and low for solid colored sun hats. All the ones I've seen thus far have been made with matching outfits. I'm still on the look out for them so if you know of a place online or wherever, please let me know!
