Weekend = Disaster

So the weekend wasn't completely crappy but yesterday was really bad. We went to church and after church decided that we had to get the oil changed in the Mitsubishi since it should've been done in December but of course, as always, life gets in the way, especially around the holidays. So we took it to Sears where we've always taken it. It took them about an hour to change the oil and so we wandered the mall while they did that. Lane went to get the car and the guy told him that the transmission was off and that there might be a problem with the engine. That's weird since it has been FINE up until they changed the oil. So after picking me up, we roll the car into a parking spot near the end of the aisle not too far away from the Sears auto place. Lane pulls out the transmission dipstick and sure enough, it is bone dry. However, being the smart cookie that I am says to Lane, "There is no way that this could've happened all of a sudden. We would've felt the issues with the transmission shifting if something were wrong driving it to church. They must've drained the transmission fluid." He only took me half seriously - why would a guy ever listen to a girl. So we were going to buy some transmission fluid for the car but Sears didn't have the kind we needed for our car (of course!). So as the drizzle and mist started to get heavier we were trying to figure out what to do since we were 20 minutes from home without transportation.

We ended up renting a car from the Avis counter inside Sears and transferred the carseat and everything else to the rental. Lane drove Eriks and me home and then went back down to the mall to deal with the tow truck. SUV was towed to AAMCO and they looked at it this morning. Sure enough, Sears had drained the transmission fluid not the oil so the engine was overflowing with oil. AAMCO had to put in 6 qts of fluid. Of course I couldn't help but say, I told you so to Lane. Sears refunded our money for the oil change and reimbursed us the rental car fees plus they changed the oil again completely. What a waste of a day dealing with that. I was so pi$$ed about the whole thing. All I kept saying to myself was "Dumba$$es!" Is it really that hard to change the oil? I know they were busy and were trying to get it done quickly but I would rather have it take longer and be done right than get it back quickly and have a non-functioning vehicle.

I'm glad it's over with and my old SUV that Lane is now driving is fine. Had it been worse, Sears would've had to pay for the damages/repairs or we would've taken them to court for their mistake and sued. Not that I want to sue anyone but they were at fault.

We had to take Eriks back to the Dr's today as he's still coughing and complained that his ears were still hurting. Sure enough ear infection is still there and another round of antibiotics here we come! The one was really red still and the other one not so much but there was a bunch of puss build up behind the ear drum (eeww). She put him on stronger antibiotics. Hopefully we'll be done with it soon and he'll stop coughing. I'm tired of listening to it.

I'm feeling better but I'm so wiped from the pneumonia. I'm trying to take it easy but it's hard. I'm studying for an exam I'm taking at 1 pm tomorrow and hope to heck I remember enough to pass it. As I stated earlier, this entire day was shot with car issues.

Other than that, not much to talk about. I'm thrilled that the NE Patriots did NOT win the Super Bowl last night. Lane and I just have a huge resentment for most Boston/NY teams. In no means am I a Giants fan, however, since I am a huge Colts fan and Peyton Manning is the star QB, I'll cheer on his little brother.

Back to studying. I'm so glad it will be all over with tomorrow afternoon. At least the test will be but I'll still have schoolwork to do and another exam to start studying for. Hopefully the rest of the classwork will go quickly so I can start another 2 classes in a few months.
