I was up way past my bedtime last night and rolled into the house at 11:30 toting a $30 bottle of wine. I've decided next time, I'm not going to be designated driver because I wanted to drink more than I did.
So here's the recap:
Lane works in a very small office on base, the building is small, but there are probably under 25 people that work in that office. There are 4 of us wives that get together on a monthly basis for dinner or some other fun activity. We had a blast.
Valley of the Moon is one of my favorite wineries from when I lived in CA and I have had a hard time finding their wine anywhere here in AR. Granted most Arkansans think that a box of Franzia or a bottle of $4 Beringer White Zinfandel is good wine. You have to go to expensive restaurants to get good wine around here. So I was totally surprised when I was going through the wine list at Crush, the wine bar we went to, that Valley of the Moon was on their wine list. Of course I had to have a glass. I was going to start out with a glass of white anyhow and I was thrilled that my white was going to be a chardonnay from the above listed winery. It was one of the best glasses of wine I've had in awhile. Of course I had to ask if I could buy a bottle and carry it out - so that's where my $30 bottle of wine came from.
After I finished my white, I moved on to a delicious merlot recommended by my friend Liz who joined us. After some light appetizers including a meat & cheese plate, pesto and bread and olives, I was starving. I had also consumed 2 glasses of wine and knew that I needed something to absorb it.
Off we went to Argenta Seafood Company for food. I had a decent bowl of shrimp bisque and some fried conch as well as 2 glasses of club soda with lime. No more liquor for me. Although this week alone I have consumed more alcohol than I usually do in a month. And I'm thinking of having more liquor again tonight after yoga to unwind.
It has been awhile since I've had so much fun. It is so good to get out and leave the husband and child behind to have some time to yourself. But I'm so going to need a nap this afternoon when Eriks is down for is. I've got a lovely cold and I'm not sleeping well because of it. So I'm going to have to catch some zzz's this afternoon even though I could crash right now. Problem is if I did, I have no idea what state my house would be in if I did. Eriks has been quite the trouble maker recently. It's too long to give details but lets just say that I have to repair a wall, we had to repair furniture in his room and put electrical outlet plates back on the wall in several different rooms.
