Cat in the Hat...I Mean Bag

There's a really interesting story behind this photos. Lane had gone running and had come back to jump in the shower and rinse the sweat off and noticed someone inside the bag.

George is my orange & white baby. I love my dogs don't get me wrong, but I honestly couldn't live without this little guy and I will be a mess when he passes on. George is a Humane Society rescue. I really wanted a cat - I hadn't had one since I was a kid. We picked George out at the shelter on New Year's Eve 1997. He has a sad story behind him. The same day we adopted him, he had been brought in. The man who brought him in had found George, his 2 siblings and his mother tied up in a trash bag on the side of the road. Momma cat and his 2 siblings had horrible eye infections but George was OK. Two of my cats as a child were orange and white and I just had to have him. In the car he was promptly named Curious George because less than a minute after we were on our way home, he climbed out of my lap and was crawling under the car seats and up into the back window. He's always been curious.

Because of the sad trash bag issue George has never gone near a crinkly bag. If we head into the bathroom to empty the trash and he sees the trash bag coming he runs and hides. He sees a plastic grocery bag, he goes running to hide. He's very skiddish around strangers and when we have people check on him when we're on vacation, they never see him but know he's around because his food bowl is empty or has a much smaller amount of food in the bowl.

So Lane and I were in total shock last night when we see him in the trash bag. Granted he only wanted in the bag because there were clothes he could sleep on. I've been starting my purging and this past Saturday went through my closet and pulled stuff to consign and stuff to give to Goodwill. The Goodwill stuff was in this bag in our bathroom. He saw it as a soft comfy place to sleep and promptly made himself comfortable. I have to say that it definitely made me smile after a day feeling yucky. Nose is still running and draining yellow gunk (I know TMI) but now I know it's not allergies. Here's to hoping it drains out of my head quickly!

My Jake shoots off like a black cannonball if I crinkle a bag....it totally freaks him out. But, he'll go in the shower without too much ado. Go figure!
