Busy Weekend

Note: The above photo is not my house. However this is what my trash is going to look like on the curb this week.

It was a busy and productive weekend. Saturday morning I hit some garage/yard sales looking for clothes for Emilija. However they were pretty much all a bust. There were tons of sales with girls clothes but all of them were 3T and up. I need 12 - 18 month. I'll probably go out again next weekend and hope I have better luck. I'd rather buy nice used clothes than go dump a bunch of money on clothes she may not wear.

After I got back from my thrift shopping, I worked inside and outside the house. We began to tackle the mess in the garage that's been there since we moved in. It's getting better and hopefully I'll be able to park my car inside shortly. Especially after the bad thunderstorm we had on Thurs. It dumped a bunch of hail that started out pea size and ended up with some pieces in the marble size range. Luckily not a single dent on the cars. But I don't want my car to experience that again. I'm afraid next time I won't be so lucky. It covered the flower beds and the grass. It was too dark to take pictures or I would have. Where was I...ah yes, the garage. We got rid of tons of cardboard boxes that had piled up. Took them to the recycling dumpster as well as other recycling items. Slowly throwing away crap that we moved because we didn't have time to go through it before we ended up here. It's amazing how much stuff you have that you don't use and likely will not use. So we're saying goodbye to it. Still have stuff in the garage we need to sell. The swing that was dumped by the previous tenants, a dresser & headboard, my golf clubs which were used 2x's. Anyone want any of this stuff?

As I said, we worked on the inside too. I went through Eriks room and trashed a bunch of stuff that he's saved "aka pack-ratted" that he does not need nor would he miss. Went through totes full of stuff that we won't use. We took a nice sized load to G.o.o.d.w.i.l.l. on Sunday after church. There will be more to take soon.

Bought some bushes and veggies to plant. For the past 3 yrs we've planted a small container garden and grown green peppers, red peppers, jalapenos, tomatoes and various herbs. This year we're adding cantaloupe. Hopefully we'll get some nice melons. I just realized what I said - get your minds out of the gutter.

We're having our visit next Monday with our social worker for the addendum for the existing home study we have. I told her we were running against the clock as Lane is scheduled to travel the 4th - 18th of June. She made it sound like it wouldn't be a problem to get it done by then. However...our fingerprints are another issue. I HATE U*S*C*I*S. At least the office here. I emailed saying that our fingerprints expire on the 21st of next month. The person that emailed me back said he/she would file an extension by providing birth certificates, marriage certificate and an updated home study. Our agency said none of that was necessary because we don't want an extension. We just want a completely new set of fingerprints. So then Lane sent an email and they asked for copies of our birth certificates to be emailed and our current case number. This was Wed/Thurs of last week and we have heard nothing back. Lane's going to email one more time tomorrow before we send a letter saying how dire it is that we get fingerprinted immediately. So the fingerprints might be the only thing holding us up and I sure as heck hope not.

OK. Time for bed. This is what happens when you decide to blog during the evening news - you lose track of time and before you know it, it's after midnight.

Liene,

Lane and your Mom should be able to find her tons of clothes super cheap and don't forget the squeaky shoes ! Thank goodness a woman is going too !

Make sure you bring an empty suitcase to bring back all the goodies girl !

And get an etching, as soon as he gets to GZ, get a picture of her, you, Ericks and Lane to one of the shops, it takes a few days to make the etching ! I personally love Sherry's, she is across from the WS ! They can take the pictures and make an etching, and make it look like everyone was all in the same picture ! So cool !

I am so excited for you !

I got to go back to FS in July and be refingerprinted !
