...they say it's your birthday
we're going to have a good time
I'm glad it's your birthday
Happy Birthday to you!
So if you haven't figured it out by now, yes it's my birthday today. It's so funny how for some people, like myself, birthdays are a big deal and I look forward to them every year. I know people who dread their birthdays, Lane my husband included. Maybe because he's turning the BIG 4-0 next year. People think I'm nuts because I get so excited over having a birthday. But this is the way I look at it, when I am able to celebrate my birthday it means it's another year that I have been alive. I am thankful to have been alive for another year.
I'm not doing anything big for my birthday. I have a party to go to tonight - not for my birthday but for some charitable volunteer work I did all year long. And I'm really looking forward to it.
I got a good birthday gift this year too. Not the typical gift most people would think of getting someone my age. I actually had thought it was going to be a new Coach purse. I have a small one and wanted a bigger one. When Lane and Eriks brought me the box I knew it wasn't a Coach purse. So what did I get????? This will definitely make some of you laugh, but this 32 year old hip momma got a Nintendo Wii gaming system for her birthday. I've been addicted since I hooked it up this morning and getting a darn good workout.
So why a Wii??? I am a lazy person. I don't like to get into my car to go to the gym and workout. That's why I'm out of shape and overweight. And I thought chasing a toddler everyday would help give me some exercise but it doesn't do enough. The Wii so far has been a workout. I've played for maybe a total of 45 minutes today and feel it in a lot of places - shoulders, arms, legs. So I'm hoping that if I'm moving for at least an hour or 2 every day playing tennis, baseball or other activity like that on my Wii, I'll be burning calories and getting some much needed exercise.
********************UPDATE***************************
So I too the fitness test on the Wii game I have (Wii Sports - baseball, bowling, tennis, boxing & golf). It tests your fitness age. Well guess how fit I am. I'm about as fit as a 79 year old! Yippie me!!! Yup, definitely time to get into shape. We'll see if I am fitness younger tomorrow. I would be definitely disappointed if I did it tomorrow and it said I was about as fit as an 85 year old.

I've heard about that game. I will have to check it out. If your fitness level is 79 I bet I'm in the 90's.

Happy Birthday! Ok - where the heck did your hubby find a Wii? My hubby has been looking all over the place and can't find one! He is so upset! I think that is one awesome gift!
