5 Questions...

Robin (Buckeyes & Eggrolls blog) did this and so I followed her link and asked Janet to interview me. I figure it's a good way to let people know a little bit about me and talk about my life. I feel like I need to give you all something to read as often as possible. It keeps you visiting my blog while we wait for our daughter.

So here goes!

1) What is your fondest wish for your children?

I think when Eriks was born and his birth mother relinquished her parental rights, I wished that he always knew that no matter what, we would love him and be the best example possible. In today's society with things always coming at you, it's hard to explain to kids why things are the way they are, etc. We want them to grow up to be responsible, intelligent adults that have a strong belief in God and respect others the way our parents taught us to respect others. I know our kids will most likely have a tougher time as we are a very multi-national, multi-cultural family. Me with my strong Latvian roots (first generation born here in the US), Eriks being Black-American and Caucasian and Emilija will be Chinese.

2) Assuming you already have your little one from China, where on this planet would you MOST like to go?

I will definitely take her to my grandparents homeland - Latvia. I was there about 6 years ago and loved it. I don't know that I could ever live there. Maybe if medical technology was what it is here. But I felt like I belonged.

3) What is your favourite thing to do on a rainy day?

I love to read books! So to curl up and engross myself in a book for the whole day would be great. I tend to only have about 20 minutes to read before bed.

4) If you could meet one character in a book (fiction or non), who would it be, and why?
This is a tough one to answer since I have read so many books. But I think that at this moment, I would love to meet the character Sayuri/Chiyo from the book "Memoirs of a Geisha". I think it would just be fascinating to meet a Geisha when they were extremely popular.

5) Would you dye your hair an outrageous colour for a good cause?
Probably. I shaved the underside of my head in high school which was actually great in the summer. I could pull my hair up and I was cool instead of hot. When I wore my hair down you couldn't see it. I dye my hair now, so dying it blue or purple or orange is no big deal...but then again I am the wife of a military officer so I know that's a huge no-no. Basically, I would if I could.

Hope you enjoyed the read!!!
