100 Good Wishes Quilt

I finally made the decision that I'm going to make one of these for Emilija. It seems like many adoptive families from China do and maybe this will keep me sane while I wait for her to come home.

So I'm sure some of you are wondering what a 100 Good Wishes Quilt is? It's a tradition that was started in Northern China. It is custom to invite 100 people to contribute a single square of material and then all 100 pieces are sewn into a quilt that contains the luck, energy and good wishes from all the family and friends who contributed a piece of fabric.

I joined the quilt square swap our agency has and then all our close friends and family will get a letter in the mail in the next few days explaining what we're doing and a request for their wishes and a square of fabric. The wishes are written on separate cards and they will all be put into a scrapbook for Emilija.

Once the quilt squares start arriving I will start a new blog to show all the pretty fabrics and wishes we have received. I'm excited about receiving the fabric, but nervous about sewing her a quilt! Guess I'll have to look to some of my friends who are good at sewing and quilt making and ask for their help.

Hellloooo there! This is Janet from Tuininga Treasures! I don't have your e-mail address, so if you don't mind, I'll ask you your interview questions right here.....here it goes.....

1) What is your fondest wish for your children?

2) Assuming you already have your little one from China, where on this planet would you MOST like to go?

3) What is your favourite thing to do on a rainy day?

4) If you could meet one character in a book (fiction or non), who would it be, and why?

5) Would you dye your hair an outrageous colour for a good cause?

Have fun! Thanks for visiting my blog!

Janet
