After the medical they wandered around Shamian. Below is a lovely photo of some live eel. Mmmm...I'm hungry now. NOT!! Lane also said there were live turtles and frogs.

Lane bought me a tea set as well as black, green and oolong tea. They were able to sample the teas and said they tasted very good. Might never use tea bags again. They also bought some very cute squeaky shoes. I think I counted 5 pairs but they were flying by the screen so fast that I'm not 100% sure. A few pairs she can wear now and some she can wear later. I think that's all they bought today.
They did hit the Star_bucks on Shamian twice! Once after the medical exam and after Emi's nap, they went back to the island and had coffee there again.
Guangzhou is definitely better than Changsha. There's a huge park right across the street from the hotel that the guide will take them to.
Tomorrow's agenda includes going to a Buddhist Temple and a blessing at the temple. I can't wait to see photos of that. I'm sure it will be a very special experience. Also they're going to the jade market. Lane was saying that where the jade market is there's a pretty decent shopping district. There they will look for adult clothing. Specifically I asked for jackets. So we'll see what they return with.
Tonight for dinner they had Mc_Donald's. There's a very funny story that goes along with the trip to Mc_Donald's for Lane. The restaurant is literally across the parking lot from the hotel. Mind you the parking lot is about the size of one street block. Emi was asleep so Lane was going to go over there to get it and bring it back. On the way over and back, Lane was asked if he wanted "a massage" by 3 different women. At first his reaction was, "WHAT?" and then it dawned on him what they were really soliciting. He said, "No" but the 1st lady kept asking him almost all the way to Mc_Donald's. The funny part is that the entire time Lane kept telling her no, in his head he was saying, "No, I don't want a massage...I want a Big Mac!"
On that note, I'm going to leave you with a photo of Sleeping Beauty Lane took on Friday while she was napping in Changsha before they checked out of the hotel. Look at her cute little feet hanging out of the crib.

She is such a cutie. Look at those feet, don't you just want to eat them up?
So sweet and cute! I love hearing the stories about what is going on with them in China!

Just adore the pictures! Please keep them coming! My heart skipped a beat when I read that Dragon's Hometown was gone. It's nice to know that his son has taken it over, even though he renamed it. Funny that Michael's place was another shop on the Island, and we never knew that they both were owned by the same family. Interesting. . . At least the artists should be the same. Would you PLEASE have Lane take a picture of the ladies who work at Michael's Place, so I can see if they're the same ladies that helped us in 2003, 2006, and 2008? I'll email you one of our pictures of these girls. They were the best. THANKS!
Hugs to you and Eriks! Enjoy these last few days with your oldest child.
Gosh I love that big smile in the first pic! Love hearing the stories! I definitely remember that jade ship in the WS.
I'll see ya tomorrow!
Re: "Lane's funny experience at McD's" - Did I mention my girls are avidly reading this blog?!?! LOL!! I saw that a quickly said, "Larisa stop reading!" and she actually did. Funny story though.
The new pictures are great. All children should have a feet hanging out of the crib picture!
Love,
Dzin
P.S. I suspect you're really gonna regret those squeaky shoes "Squeak, squeak, squeak" all day long!
That massage story cracked me up.So glad that Emi's checkup went well. She is so precious. Love that last picture.
Hugs,
