I want to know what sort of mental illness the American population is suffering from when they think it's more important for a black guy and a white guy to "get it on" in a debate rather than work to save our tanking economy. HELLO!!! Last night one of our local news stations ran a poll asking the viewers if they thought that the debate should go on or if the presidential candidates should deal with the bill for the $700 billion bailout. This my friends and readers are the results: 81% said that the debate should continue as planned and 19% said deal with fixing the economy first. To borrow a phrase from my blogger friend Janet - "YOU NEED A KICK IN THE PANTS!!"
I'm so thrilled that Americans would be happier shuffling along the street in their bathrobes in a recession/Depression because our candidates debated instead of worked on trying to help the country out. Give me a high 5! I can honestly say that I'm not 100% supportive of this $700 billion bailout. I don't think that there's any good solution to the stupidity of millions of American's who were convinced by mortgage companies that they too could have the "American Dream." I don't think that owning a big house, an expensive car, a 55" flat screen TV, taking vacations in the C@ribbean is the "American Dream." In my opinion it's being successful and working your hardest as well as taking care of your family not what flashy objects you can accumulate and show off.
Granted I don't believe the government should be bailing out anyone because of their stupid mistakes. Too bad, so sad. I don't own a house I can't afford. As a matter of fact, I own a house that's less than I can afford. Why? Because I choose to and because I'm not dumb enough to buy a house I can't afford.
I know people are going to argue that this $700 billion bailout is only going to help continue to pad the pockets of Wall Street CEO's. Yada, yada, yada...But how about this - if we want to talk about padding the pockets of CEO's let's look at Frank.lin Rain.es the former CEO of F@nnie M@e and how he made $90 million in his 6 yrs as CEO. Oh, and wait, he was one of the largest monetary supporters of Ob@ma. Hmm...
I do lean on the Conservative side. Always have for several reasons: Pro-Life, Pro-Gun, Pro-Military, Pro-Religion, being able to keep my hard earned money instead of giving it to the government so that they can use it to help out people who refuse to get off their butts to help themselves and prefer handouts from someone else.
I think one of the funniest things I heard was a comment yesterday during Ob@ma's press conference. He said that the president has to deal with more than one thing at once and that he can handle both campaigning and working with Congress. He then went on to say that he had been talking to N@ncy Pelo.si, H@rry Re.id and others and told them, "If you need me. Call me." Um, yeah, last time I checked a president/future president doesn't say anything like that - "If you need me. Call me?" Are you serious? I guess that statement truly is, "Change you can count on!" Not the kind of guy I want as my president. Especially if he says, "If you need me. Call me." Is that going to be your sentiment as president? Not my idea of leadership qualities.

oh honey-child, you just let it ALL out, didn't you?!
I don't know a lot about American politics, but I'm with ya on the conservative thing....:-)
No matter what you're leanings are, what makes me incredibly sad (sick) is that the media is choosing our president, not us. Every station is biased, every one. You'll notice that even NBC, CBS, etc are pro-Obama. You don't hear about that F.Mae stuff, or any of his other shady affiliations, but McCain is slammed at every turn (and so is Palin). Regardless of whether or not I support them, they are slammed. Same went for Hillary. I was not a Hillary fan at all, but the media was relentless- they didn't want her, so guess what? She wasn't to be... the media chose. It makes me sick. The cards are stacked high and heavy against McCain and you can thank our media for that (with the exception, of course, of the conservative Fox). I admit that as usual, neither candidate impresses me much. But I'm voting for the better one that impresses me the more ;O)
Amen! And I agree with Kris about the media too. They even kept Huckabee out of the race just by starting every news cast about how he can't win and he probably could have without the media's help.
Beverly & Kris you are absolutely right. The media has always been pro-Democrat and they didn't want Hillary so they made sure they trashed her so she wouldn't get the nomination as Kris said.
I haven't been really happy with the GOP pick. None of the GOP candidates really sent my pants on fire. Granted I think that there are qualities from all the GOP candidates that could've been taken to form the nearly perfect candidate.
My biggest anger is that I think politicians need to stop worrying about what's best for them and put the needs of the country first. Even if that means stepping out of your comfort zone. Although I've never been a huge JFK fan, I did think that his line has always been poignant - "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country."
It's a shame that people expect the government to take care of them however they don't want the government telling them what to do with their lives. I was raised to take responsibility for my own decisions and my life. If I don't succeed in my own fault, not anyone else's and I'm the only one to blame.
Actually, not a thing you said offended me EXCEPT the statement that because I don't agree with you I need a kick in the pants.
There are quite a few well reasoned, calm, intelligent folks that saw McCain's 'I am gonna go to DC instead of debating' as a cheap ploy to try to revive a campaign that is showing signs of needing life support. That includes me.
Again, I have no problem with anyone looking the facts and events and coming to a different conclusion than I did. No problem with folks ranting about it either.
BUT I have absolutely no use for the idea that, because I don't nod my head in agreement with those conclusion and give a great big YOU GO GIRL, I ought to be physically assaulted to knock some sense into me.
