OMG!!!! I'm certifiably a nut job now. What was I thinking!!! I am honestly going to have to back out of stuff next week with Lane being gone for work and all. As of right now I have things scheduled every day between tomorrow and next Saturday and I will not live to see Lane come home if I continue with things as scheduled. Granted all this was planned before he announced the big work trip. I think it's just a trend in the history of our marriage. I have a busy week and his employer decides to send him away.
Anyhow the good news is when he gets back on the 1st of October (they couldn't get him a flight from Europe before then - shame isn't it?) instead of on the 29th he'll have a few days off trying to recoup from jetlag, etc. Then at the end of the week we are off to Dallas to visit his sister and attend the Texas State Fair. That should be a blast. Eriks hasn't been to a state fair since he was about 8 months old. Now that he's almost 4 he's going to be like a kid in a candy store. Plus we have lots of shopping to enjoy. I can't wait. I can't believe how pathetic the shopping is here in Little Rock. I'm glad we have a few new stores like J. Jill, Pottery Barn and Williams-Sonoma, but what's even more shocking is that we just got a Children's Place a year ago! That's a staple everywhere!! OK, off my soapbox about how pathetic everything is here.
My last note for the day, it's a very sad day when your almost 4 yr old son has learned to hit the pause button on the TiVo remote so that he can take a potty break while watching Clifford the Big Red Dog on PBS Kids in the morning. I was running around this morning trying to get things ready before taking him to school and he says from the other room, "Mommy, I have to go potty." I said, "OK. Go." Next think I know, I walk into the room and realize that before he ran to the bathroom he picked up the remote and hit pause. He just couldn't miss a second of the show. He came back and hit play. My baby is not a baby anymore. I guess what's funny is that he's only allowed about 90 minutes of TV in the morning while I'm getting ready and trying to take care of morning chores and he's learned how to operate the remote. I'm still shocked at how well he makes his way around our computer too. I think when he's a teenager and I tell him we had cars where you had to roll down the window yourself he'll be floored. Oh and remember when there were only 3 tv stations and you had to get up off the couch and turn the knob to change the channels??? Ah, a trip down memory lane when life was simpler. I'm also just laughing at how much is coming back from when I was a kid in the early 80's. Yes, I know some of you were in high school and college in the early 80's. I married one that falls into that category.
I hope all my blogging buddies and faithful readers have a good weekend. I'll try and stay as contacted as possible to everyone next week but it's going to be crazy handling everything on my own without the hubs!
