Our agency, CHI got a new batch of referrals today. The referrals were through the 25th of October of 2005. This means that the current wait times for referrals is now running between 16-17 months. This is not what I wanted to hear. This could mean that we will not get a referral for 2 years!!!! Eriks would be over the age of 5 if we waited this long.
We did put in an application to review the file for a little girl who has a congenital heart condition. She is only 10 months younger than Eriks. It's a snowballs chance in hell that we'll actually get to view her file, but there's always hope. We will find out either Thursday afternoon or sometime Friday if we were selected.
We will continue trying to adopt a Waiting Child until we get our referral. It's kind of a which ever comes first situation. I never thought I would have to wait this long to add another child to our family. I honestly hope it doesn't take us 2 years to do it.
