In the mail today we got the "Brown Envelope". Not everyone gets one sent to them. But what's in the envelope is the paperwork that the U.S. Consulate in Guangzhou will need to process our adoption. It contains the medical forms and the forms for our daughters Visa back into the U.S. and the other papers that say that she is immediately classified as a U.S. citizen as soon as we step off the plane back from China.
Unfortunately, I think we will be holding on to these papers for quite some time yet. The little girl we are interested in is still being reviewed by a family. They have until Wednesday or Thursday to make their decision. If they turn her down, then another family is selected. As of right now 11 of the 20 Waiting Children have been placed. Only 2 of the 20 are currently not being reviewed. The good news from our agency is that if all the children find homes quickly, the agency can send another letter of request for another batch of Waiting Children. I hope that happens if this little girl is placed with another family. I don't know if I could wait another 13-14 months or more for our referral. As of tomorrow we will be LID for 3 months.
I will definitely keep everyone updated on the list of Waiting Children.
