March Madness

I have been glued to my TV for the past 2 days and probably will be all weekend with all the basketball games. I'm from Indiana. There you are born with a basketball in your hand. You would also know this if you've ever watched the movie "Hoo*siers". The NCAA is not only headquartered there so is the NCAA basketball hall of fame. So that should tell you how important the sport of basketball is in my home state.

This shirt says it all. It's what I'm proudly wearing today. And I'm sure once I leave the house I will be heckled about it. Why you ask? Well if you pay any attention to basketball you'll know that Indiana U. plays Arkansas tonight at 8:40 CDT. And those of you who know me know where I currently live...Arkansas. When IU wins tonight I will probably wear some form of IU regalia for a few days just to rub the salt into the wound.

Speaking of basketball, Lane, Eriks and I went down to Alltel Arena yesterday afternoon to watch open practices of the NCAA teams that are playing 1st and 2nd round games here this weekend. One of those teams is the Texas Longhorns, Lane's alma mater. You have no idea how many Arkansas fans were there just to boo them. There has been a huge hate relationship between UT and UA for years. So you can guess that we were totally happy to be there wearing our burnt orange TEXAS shirts. I actually wore the one that says 2005 National Football Champs. I so wish we could've afforded to go see them actually play but I just couldn't find a rational reason to spend $500 for 2 tickets. Granted that's for all the games this weekend (today & Sunday) but still... I'll just have to enjoy watching them on TV.

I got a ton of mail today including these:

I was so excited to finally have our Walt Dis*ney World itinerary show up. I knew it would be coming soon. I had actually it would be here at the beginning of the week. Now that everything is in my hands it makes me that much more excited because now I truly have proof that we are going. Now I just have to put it in a safe place and make sure I don't forget where I put it.

And lastly, one of the organizations Lane is associated with on base had a children's Easter party on Sunday. They had a cookout and an Easter Egg hunt for the kids. The Easter bunny showed up after the egg hunt was over. Eriks couldn't get enough of the bunny. This makes us very happy as we anticipate that this means that he will have no problems with Dis*ney characters next month.

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!!
