10 Months Down...A Long Way to Go

As of today we've been twiddling our thumbs for 10 months. Still kind of hard to believe it's been that long and how quickly time does fly - although not fast enough.

Today we are going to the opening of the new Babies R Us in Little Rock. I got a flier that Arthur was going to be making an appearance and since he is one of of Eriks's favorite characters we thought we'd surprise him with a trip. We haven't told him yet just in case he's not really there. After that it's off to the pumpkin patch to pick out our pumpkins for Halloween. Should be fun. Eriks does know about the pumpkin patch.

It was kind of funny. We were heading to meet our friend Charlotte & her 2 Chinese adopted kiddos for dinner (both of whom are Eriks age) when we have an interesting exchange with Eriks.

The conversation went something like this:

Eriks: Am I bright?
Lane: Sure.
Eriks: You have to say Yes or No.
Lane: Yes
Eriks: Today is Monday (it was Friday).

Lane and I laughed so hard. Then of course Eriks pays way too much attention to us when we are driving. Lane was getting particularly perturbed at a limousine in front of us and was saying things like, "OK, you can go." We've learned to keep it clean. Of course Eriks pipes in with his, "Stupid man! What's he doing!" Another laughable moment. They never seem to stop anymore. What was particularly funny was last week Lane and I were having an exchange in the car and Eriks says, "Mommy you're a dork!" This is something I call Lane pretty frequently. It's a substitution to not calling him an ass_____. I swear Lane laughed for 5 minutes.

I'm hoping that I will find some time in the next few days to post photos of our trip to the Texas State Fair. We had a lot of fun although after 4 hours of walking around all I wanted to do was get into the car to sit and blast the air. It was actually quite hot still in Dallas last weekend. Gotta love living in the South. In early October you can guarantee that it's till about 90 degrees. Although it was that warm in the Midwest last weekend too. My family thought it was crazy (which it was) since that is so not typical of this time of year for them.

Well, you have now made the double digit club. :0) I'd love to say "congrats" but I know not many people are feeling very well about double digits any longer because you stay there for so long. :-( However, I will say, Happy 10 months gone...and Hamg in there!
