Car Seats????

We're going to need a new car seat for Emi. The ones that we used for Eriks are approximately 6 yrs old and I heard or read somewhere that they should be used for no more than 6 yrs. Can someone explain why?

Anyhow, we're so out of the loop as far as convertible car seats. There are so many out there and everyone of course has their opinions on which ones are better or worse.

So I guess I am posing this question to those of you who have kiddos still in convertible car seats or who have bought car seats for their kiddos who are coming home soon. What do you have? What do you like/dislike about it? And why did you buy it?

I have a Britax 5 point fastening seat, for the simple reason I think it is 100% the safest you can buy.

I started looking after seeing this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azgBhZfcqaQ&feature=PlayList&p=E96F1317A541BEC0&index=1

I looked at a lot of 5 point fastening seats, but came to the conclusion the Britax really is the strongest and safest. I hope I'm never put to the test!

A big plus is it is easy to fit and remove and I've used it in several models of cars and it has worked well in all of them.

Hannah will be staying in a Britax until she is old enough to drive - in fact I may insist she stays in it forever :0

Britax Marathon... I love everything about it except the size (kinda large) and the price (really large - LOL). But it's good for rear or forward facing, up to 65 pounds. If you don't know the size or development of your child, it's a great one to consider.

I am jumping on the Britax bandwagon too. I have a Britax in each car and I really like them.

We used this one: Cosco Juvenile Apex 65 Booster Car Seat - 22531. It has the same 5 pt harness front-facing weight limit as the Britax, and the back can be removed later to be used as a booster. It's about 1/2 the price of the Britax and got great safety reviews on consumer reports.
