had me thinking I was losing my mind and going a little crazy. The photo on the left is a picture of the ICD (Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator) that I had placed inside of me in August 2006. It's what keeps my heart rate slow and steady. Little did I know that if settings are messed with it beeps at you.
Here's what happened. About 2 months ago I had it read which means they see what it's been doing. They also altered some of the settings which isn't really something new. I know they change the thresholds, etc. Yeah, I know that's probably way over your head if you're not in the medical field and used to dealing with this. So 2 months ago was also about the time we tried to get the alarm system in our rental house connected and because of phone issues we can't right now. However, the controls on the alarm are on and sometimes they make funny noises. Every time I heard the beeping, it was anywhere between 7:45 and 8:30 am-ish. It was always happening in our bedroom where we have a 2nd control box for the alarm. So I thought it was the controls just doing weird things. Well, yesterday at 8:45 I was in the carpool lane waiting to drop Eriks of at Pre-K and I heard the familiar beeping. I turned the radio down and realized it was coming from me!
Long story short...I called my friend Liz who is very familiar with my device and told her it was beeping. I told her I had no clue it could do that. She said, "You didn't?" Well, so far so good, it hasn't done it again and if it does, I'll have to go in to find out how to turn the beeping alarm off. Everything is fine with my device and the nurses at the EP station are trying to do some research to find out why it was doing it.
Nothing else new with me. Lane's VERY busy with work. They're moving airplane after airplane off the line. He's on his way to CA today to take an airplane out to the Mar.ines who are too damn lazy to come pick up their own *&@#! airplane. Once he gets back tomorrow, he starts test driving the airplane that's going to Deutsch.land. Luckily he won't have to take that there and he doesn't want to anyhow no matter how much he'd like to go back to his old stomping grounds at Ram.stein.
Not really happy about the middle of the night wake up calls we were getting. Some one was trying to send us faxes. I was jolted awake and of course my first thought was, "OK, who died? Who had to be rushed to the hospital?" I answer and it's a $#@*%! fax machine. I hang up. A few minutes later, it does it again. Answer then hang up when I hear the fax machine. Lane then turns to me and says, "If it happens again I'm going downstairs to unplug the phone." Sure enough about 15 minutes later just as I was drifting back off to a peaceful sleep the phone rings. So the phone was unplugged and we were able to finish our nights sleep.
PIPO and her little Chicken Wing are home from China. Yeah!! The Chicken Wing is just too darn cute!!! It's just amazing to see how small my waiting family blog list is getting. Eventually everyone will be in the Families at Home column. Can't wait!

Your chest beeped at you? Oh my gosh, I'd have been freaking out. Glad you have a good friend who knows about Such Things. And it's been fun seeing all the recent homecomings, hasn't it?
I'm with TM. I would've freaked a little. LOL!
PS. Happy 27!
I too would have FREAKED out!
Medtr*onic is a great company by the way...my insulin pump is from them.
Thanks for the kudos!
Great googly-moogly, girl....stop that beeping! :0)
Hope you get your beeping sorted out soon (that was weird to type!)
Hope all is well with you all, and Eriks is enjoying his new karate lessons more than the old ones.
And finally, Hope even more that you hear news from you agency before you have to count too many more months of waiting.
(And by the way, we had a blizzard today, so hope your weather is better!)
This cracked me up....Of course, I hope everything is OK, but I chuckled thinking about my younger sister who has had a pacemaker since she was 20. Different than your device (her heart beats way too slow), but still always good for some stories. The nurses totally love having a patient who isn't part of the AARP crowd. ;-) Probably the same for you?! Take care!
