OMG!!! Maybe this won't surprise some people but I was beside myself today. The little boy across the street who just finished kindergarten came over this morning to ask if Eriks could play. I was really busy and just couldn't allow the boys to run around the house.
So here's how the conversation went:
W: Can Eriks play?
Me: Not right now W. I'm really busy trying to get some work done right now. Maybe he can play this afternoon.
W: Friday???
Me: Later today. This afternoon.
W: (gave me a look like I was speaking a foreign language)
Me: Do you know what afternoon is?
W: (still the same bewildered look)
Me: Do they not teach you the difference between morning, afternoon, and night/evening?
W: I know Monday, Friday, (long pause because he couldn't think of anymore but then finally said - ) Saturday.
Me: Well, afternoon is a time of day that comes after the morning and before night time. Eriks isn't even in school and he knows what morning, afternoon and night is. Again, maybe this afternoon Eriks can play, but not right now. (I know that that was probably not nice of me to rub it in a 6 yr olds face that my 4 yr old is smarter than he is. But I mean come on, this kid is almost 2 full yrs older than Eriks and he's a box of rocks...several cards short of a full deck...you catch my drift.)
And I closed the door on him or he'd just stand there. I swear this kid is the stupidest kid I've ever met in my life. His older brother isn't too much smarter either. Says a lot about the parents and Ar-kansas schools. Thank Gawd Eriks is going to private school in the fall where he'll actually learn something.
The other thing that bothers me about this kid is when he comes over, he doesn't just ring the doorbell. He'll ring the doorbell and then stands there with his nose and face pressed against my front door window. He's so freaking nosy! We have one of those ornate beveled glass doors. It drives me nuts. I have to remind myself to get him to stop. I'm going to tell him if he doesn't stop, I won't answer the door because what he's doing is rude.
Still freaking hot here. Praying for some serious rain. Anyone out there that doesn't want it??? If so send it my way.

Wow maybe you should let his mom read your ocmments and I am sure she would keep her son away from you.
Maybe your next kid will be lucky enough to share those traits. SMH
I WANT A PICTURE OF MY NEPHEW IN HIS UNIFORM!!! ASAP!!! Paldies
Oh dear. Reminds me of our neighbour kids. Absolute torture. I avoid them like the plague.
Oh my! That poor child. What does that say about the parents?
You can take our rain. We just got our power back yesterday from a storm on Friday. Yippee.

Thanks for your comment but if you think I'm materialistic you are so way off base. Materialist people are way up to their eyeballs in debt because they have to have the newest gadgets immediately. The last TV I purchased was in 1997. I don't buy new cars, I don't by high-tech gadgets. I'd like to retire in a fashion where I don't have to rely on the government for retirement funds.
And BTW, I've talked to most of my friend here and all over the world and they agree that a 6 yr old should understand the times of day and the days of the week. It's a shame that you're putting me down when parents aren't taking the time to educate and raise their kids.
