Great Mobile Homes of Mississippi

I'm sure you're wondering what kind of post is this. Well besides doing laundry, packing and getting ready to drive 800 miles to take Eriks to day camp next week there's nothing exciting going on in my life. So today while I was out picking tomatoes and peppers I heard gunshots. Yup, you heard that correctly and that's not the first time. Across the street from me (our house backs up to a semi-heavily trafficked road) is 3 trailers/mobile homes. About another 500 feet down the road is a house and behind that house is a large wooded area. The person(s) who live in the house regularly take their shotguns/handguns and shoot into the woods. Real nice, eh??? So about every few months we're actually home and hear it. This morning was one of those days. So it got me thinking about how much of a truly redneck state I live in. Don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against rednecks - most of the time. Heck, my mom's family is considered rednecks from where they came from in Latvia.

So then I got to thinking about when we were stationed in Mississippi for 3 VERY long years. While we were there a guy ("TZ" Kelley) in our squadron started a website called Great Mobile Homes of Mississippi (www.drbukk.com/gmhom/gmindex.html). Sorry it wouldn't let me link it. Not long after he moved away from Columbus AFB he either sold it or gave up the rights to Dr. Bukk who happily added it to their website. It's a riot to look at because I can't tell you how many times I passed these sights driving around the state. And yes, there are even some here in Arkansas. Not quite as bad, but still in existence. I just don't get why people don't care if their homes look like trash. I'm anal about my house, inside and out and I just can't park a Trans-Camero on cinder blocks in the front yard.

OK. Back to chores and trying to stay cool in this miserable heat!!!

Hilarious! I will take a look at the "great mobile homes".....:-)

We hear gunshots all the time. We live in a rural area and we have a gun range nearby.....:-)
