Well Eriks has had a blast this week at school even though a few days he's said differently. Monday was his first day at IC and of course we were late by about 7 minutes. There is only one major highway out of our suburb into LR and of course on the 1st day of school a car stalls and brings traffic to a standstill. It doesn't help either that they are doing a lot of construction and therefore there is no shoulder to push the car off onto. I was so embarrassed that we had this problem.
Anyway, when I picked him up from school the first day I asked him how it was he said with a huge grin on his face, "Mom, it was FANTASTIC!!!" I'm just really sad that we're moving and he won't be able to complete the school year here. What I'm even more sad about is that right now we are on a waiting list for a school out in the Atlanta area. So I don't know what I'm going to do with him if I can't get him into a pre-K program there. Keeping my fingers crossed that there is an opening for the 2nd semester.
One of the best things about private school - UNIFORMS!!! I don't worry about what he has to wear to school. It's the same thing every day. I too had uniforms from 1st grade to freshman year of HS. I hated it but then once my parents moved way out into the burbs and I had to go to public HS, I understood the reasoning behind the uniforms. I always worried about what I would wear to school and it would take me forever to figure out what I was going to wear. This often lead to me spending lots of time the night before going through my closet.
Another great thing about private schools is that the school says, these are the rules, both students and parents need to follow them. No bitching and moaning. Plus one of the great things for us is the saying of the Pledge and prayer!! You can't even utter the word prayer in public schools and many have done away with the Pledge due to that little line, "One nation..."

So here are a few photos of Eriks 1st day right outside of our house. I didn't take any at school because well, as I said before, we were late.

Yes, I am taking a hiatus from blogging. Not really by choice. Between a kid in school, my own schoolwork and house for sale, I don't have time to post on my blog right now. I wish I could even keep up with reading everyone else's. However with the lack of comments lately on my blog, I know everyone else is really busy too! Either that or you all could care less what I'm rambling on about. Those who want to keep in touch have either my phone number, my email address or other ways to get a hold of me.
Hopefully I'll be back in the next month or so. Sayonara!

I don't blame you for the hiatus... as for the school uniform... I am for it... coming from a country where school uniforms were the norm... you didn't have the 'haves/have nots'... probably the biggest competition was who could get their hair the highest... didn't realize until moving to the US just how much 'cheaper' it was to have your uniforms and not have 'tons' of clothes to have to buy for school... bring on the daggy, disgusting uniform - well, these days they aren't so bad... take care
very cute. He looks so big :) Did you get the house listed? We may have found one in GA. YIPPEE. Under 90 days for us to move.
With you on uniform every time and glad that our British schools still keep it. Cuts out a lot of bullying, makes it easy to spot strangers, kids look smart, and so on. Eriks looks very handsome in his! :)
Good luck with the sale and move. Hope it all goes smoothly and you get some good news on Eriks school placement soon.
Best wishes.
Enjoy your break!
You know as a kid I hated my uniform, but now a days I like the idea of them. They are easy and put everyone on the same page. Kind of simple and to the point.
Eriks is real cute. Does the uniform ever change, state to state? Is it always blue and white? I want it to be purple and green ;).
What a cutie in his uniform! I wish we had a uniform at our school, it would make for a different atmosphere!
Enjoy your break...I'll miss you!
Riley goes to a public school and they have uniforms ! It is more the norm these days !
If you need me to teach you some other ways to IC from Cabot let me know !

Eriks looks so grown up - wow! What a handsome guy. Glad he loves school so far. Q started kindergarten and so far so good. No uniforms, but they've been having "color days" these first couple of weeks, so that makes it a little easier to get dressed.
