This, That & the Other

I know it's been forever ago since I posted. I'm sorry. I've been swamped with school and a whole plate of other stuff. As soon as I am done updating everyone and letting you all know that yes, I am alive, I'm back to driving my a$$ through more school work on a...gulp...Friday night! There's something seriously wrong with that but if I want to attempt to finish these 2 courses by the end of December or January I have to live, eat and breathe school. It's not much fun but I know during Christmas break I'll be able to do a lot more since Lane's work will have slowed.

Anyhow, we are plugging along nicely here. Although I'm still floored that it's almost mid-November, Thanksgiving is about 2 weeks away and it was over 70 degrees today. I still have my windows open now and it's in the upper 50's and feels great! I'm ready for sweater weather at least. I'd be happy to have highs in the upper 50's. I don't want to hear it from all you snowbirds. I'll trade with you any day!

My friend Charlotte left this afternoon to go pick up her daughter from China. This is her 3rd and final adoption from China and she has been giddy all week with excitement. Although I am happy for her, I am a little sad that it's not us, but it will be our turn at some point. I'm just not thinking about it. Immersing yourself in school work has been a great distraction from thinking about China all the time.

So after much demanding here are photos of Eriks from Halloween in his Peter Pan costume. Yes, I put my son in tights. They looked better than the pants that came with the costume and since it was so big (I should learn that Disney sizes always run about 2 sizes HUGE) he can wear it for a few years yet to come. I know the green Crocs don't completely go with the outfit but they were better than tennis shoes and I didn't have time to go to the fabric store like I wanted to buy felt to make shoe covers that look like Pan's footwear. He was being so silly while we tried to get photos of him.

All reasoning with this child had been lost by this point in photo taking!

And this is what happens when you leave your boots out and your 3 yr old finds them. I died laughing. I don't wear shoes with heels often since I'm tall to begin with and I would tower over Lane if I did. But I had to have these boots. Eriks thought they were fly too! Don't they just complete his ensemble???

And finally I'm posting these for my friend Jen so that she can see the crafty thing I did last Saturday. Her husband just left last week for a 1 year deployment to Saudi Arabia so if you could keep her USAF hubby in your prayers that he stays safe during that time, I know she would appreciate it.
I do manage to make some time for myself. I'd go insane if I didn't. I think they turned out rather cute if I do say so myself. I have to thank my Stampin' Up! demo Jennifer for the fabulous card ideas. I'm going to have to go through her stuff to see what else I can copy. I did manage to spend $80 on stamp supplies last Saturday so I could make some of these on my own. Surprisingly I already had several of the stamp sets so I didn't spend money on that. Just the paper and stuff.

That's it for now. Tomorrow we're planning on going to the Junior League of Little Rock's annual Holiday House and I hope to find some cool and unique Christmas gifts for some people. Even if I don't it will be nice to get out since I'll be cracking the books again tomorrow night. YIPPIE!!! I need a vacation. April can't come soon enough - a week in Florida!!!

Did you know that in Europe little boys wear tights as routinely as little girls? They just wear them under their pants for warmth. Yeah, so I'm quite used to seeing boys in tights at this point!
